The child location Alarm

Dear parents,

This web page is for all parents wishing to find out how the child location alarm system offered by the association @citizen1984 works.

Every day, your child has to go to school and to many activities (tennis, piano, etc.). It is sometimes difficult to be able to monitor all your movements. You cannot go with him everywhere. This is where our solution comes in. We present to you a system allowing you to receive a message which informs you when your child has arrived at your home or at his piano lesson for example.The risk to which your child is exposed is not to be neglected, you will find in the graph below an inventory of the violence in our beautiful country the USA.

Our system

It is very highly likely that your child has a cell phone. You have probably already tried to implement the following rule: "send me a message when you are home". You have surely been confronted with certain deviations from your child in the application of this rule.

Our system allows you to do without your child's goodwill. We use the geolocation capability of your child's phone. Thus, if your child arrives at your home, our system receives the information and generates an alarm message which will be sent to you immediately.

How it works

The system is quite simple to understand. We are based on an API (Application Programming Interface) which allows two applications to interact with each other.
In our case, the two applications are the geolocation application of your child's phone as well as the application for sending messages. The first application will kind of communicate with the other application. But for that, we need an intermediate program which comes a) to select among the data flow that the geolocation application continuously generates the data that interests us coming from the first application. b) Trigger the action that we have fixed for it within the second application.

Using an A.P.I simplifies the creation of this type of system. We use IFTTT, but we could have used another site.

Make it

1. Create your account on IFTTT
2. Click on "Create" at the top of the lobby web page
3. Click on “If this" to select your trigger
4. Select "You enter an area"
5. Define the area with the place you want
6. Click on "Create trigger"
7. Click on “Then That" to select the action to realise
8. Select "Android SMS" (if you an android phone) or ClickSend SMS (if you have an IOS phone)
9. Click on connect
10. Define the content of the SMS and its recipient
11. Then finish the creation of the Applet

Please not that you need to download the IFTT app on the phone of your child.
